The Breakfast Show broadcasts on radio 1 from 6:30am to 10am.

In 2017, Nick Grimshaw was the host of BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, but he irritated his audience with his out of touch jokes and his celebrity friends frequently appearing as guests.

This caused the show to decline in listeners to only 5.2 million weekly.

In August 2018, Greg James was swapped out with Nick Grimshaw, and he aimed to revamp the show into something better, like it once had been.

His aim:

- accessibility

- inclusivity

- warmth

The biggest change he made to the show was the imaging and sound beds (background music) he added to make the show more appealing to a larger audience.

Greg James was able to make the weekly listeners jump from 5.2 million to 9.2 million in just 3 months.

The first ever presenter of the Breakfast Show was Tony Blackburn, who started hosting in 1967 when the show was first created. He had 24 million listeners weekly.
