Tabloid:

- large images

- soft news (celebrity gossip, sport, tv, the royal family and more)

- dramatic news

- short articles with little text

- low register language (simple words which are easy to read)

- stereotypes

- lots of adverts (aimed at a target audience)

- large headlines

- use of sans serif font

- bright colour

- a big lead article

- aimed at a lower social demographic (C2, D, E)

- puns/jokes (informal)


Broadsheet:

- smaller font with more text

- sans serif font

- text in columns

- formal

- few pictures

- plain design

- long articles with lots of information

- mature and serious content

- political and well-researched

- aimed at a higher social demographic (A, B, C1)
